On 1 November 2025, the Department of Tourism, Andaman & Nicobar Islands in collaboration with Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Andaman Water Sports Adventures Pvt. Ltd. will host a signature event: the Kayak Festival 2025 under the theme “Paddle to Paradise: Explore, Engage, Conserve.

This festival marks a purposeful celebration of kayaking as a core adventure-tourism activity in the Andaman Islands. It brings together the islands’ licensed kayak tour operators, instructors, and water-sports professionals to foster skill development, safety excellence, environmental awareness, and a sense of camaraderie amongst the adventure tourism fraternity.

The waters around North Bay have long been a hub for snorkeling, sea walks, and kayaking for visitors to the islands. 

 The Tourism Department’s move to organise a dedicated kayaking competition and festival stems from multiple motivations:

Elevating the professionalism and competence of local licensed kayak operators, guides and instructors. 

Creating an event platform that not only showcases skill and performance, but also emphasises safety, rescue readiness, and responsible use of marine/water resources.

Encouraging teamwork, peer learning and standardised practices across the water-sports community. 

Offering visitors and the general public an attractive, lively water-sports spectacle and to draw additional interest into North Bay as a destination.
